Each October we celebrate the hard-working individuals who encourage and support us in our jobs. Bosses Day was started to show our appreciation for the men and women who lead us, mentor us, and support us daily without seeking recognition. In 1958, at a State Farm Insurance company in Cleveland, Ohio, Patricia Bays Haroski saw how hard her boss (who was also her father) worked to keep the office running smoothly for his employees. She felt thanks were in order so she worked to have October 16th, her father’s birthday, designated as National Bosses Day. Bice’s Florist has a trove of gorgeous plants, floral designs, and gift baskets ready for sending to your boss this month. Read More about Honor Your Fearless Leader This Bosses Day »

When we think about self-care, often images of a bubble bath or pedicure come to mind. While both are excellent means of taking care of yourself, there are many more ways to make sure you are well-cared for before extended a helping hand to others. Spending time with loved ones, laughing, exercising or simply taking a meditative break from the day are all restorative actions that make us more efficient and simply better for those around us. Fort Worth’s Bice’s Florist recommends including a beautiful dish garden or plant arrangement in your favorite living space for a fresh and cleansing element. “By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he’s wrong.”
Fathers often have the grand responsibility of raising up children who were just like him when he was young. This can be a daunting and sometimes frustrating task, so the encouragement fathers receive from their loved ones during this journey is truly appreciated. This Father’s Day, June 17th, think about blessing all the fathers in your life with handwritten cards, lunch at his favorite haunt or a beautiful piece of foliage that reminds him how much he’s loved. The design artists at Bice’s Florist are eager to help you create the perfect gift for your dad this Father’s Day. Read More about Make It A Fun Father’s Day »
May 6 through May 12 sees us celebrating not one but two types of empowered and empowering women: teachers and nurses. Appreciation week is the perfect time to honor these super ladies with something that is as full of strength and beauty as they are, Bice's Florist thinks.
And we know, we know. There are plenty of men who deserve our appreciation this week, too. But these fields are overwhelmingly dominated by women---women who are mentors and mamas, sisters, cousins, friends, neighbors, colleagues and allies. Read More about All The Super Ladies »
Want to make Earth Day really special this year? Get out into the Fort Worth community and participate in one of the many events designed to celebrate our planet and promote environmental awareness. Clean-ups, plantings, festivals and more offer us the unique opportunity to take care of our part of the Earth, and Bice's Florist wants to offer you the chance to do the same at home, too. Taking care of our immediate environment is a great way to teach our kids (and remind ourselves) that preservation and conservation are key to keeping our planet healthy, happy and beautiful. This goes for our home environment too. Read More about Not Your Garden-Variety Earth Day »

Don't overlook one of the most important aspects of doing that big spring deep clean, we here at Bice's Florist advise. As you're working to restore your home's balance after a long fall and winter, which may include editing out items, boxing up winter ones and an overall overhaul of what's in each room, don't forget to add back in plants and flowers when you're done. Why? Both---but especially plants---help to improve the air quality in your home and add a sense of vitality to it as well. Read More about Refresh Your Home With Some Spring Spirit »
In 1958, a woman named Patricia Bays Haroski had an idea. As an employee at Chicago-based State Farm Insurance, she thought that a day set aside to enhance and encourage positive employee/employer relationships could create a more positive workplace overall. Four years after proposing her idea to the Illinois government, governor Otto Kerner made the observance official. Although the day was never made a federal holiday, it is recognized across the country, as well as in South Africa, India and Australia.

Both flowering and green plants are perfect to have indoors, but they are far more than home decor! Plants are known to create a sense of calm and serenity, cleanse toxins from the air, and even increase our productivity. Here at Bice's Florist, we think that if a plant is willing to work that hard to benefit our lives, that we should strive to keep them as happy and healthy as we can as well. Although there are hundreds of thousands of varieties of plants - and just as many instructions on how to care for them - this week we are highlighting two of our favorite plants. For your Fort Worth home or office, you may wish to add these beauties to your decor.
Coming Soon! Administrative Professionals Week is the perfect opportunity to send plants (or flowers, or gifts) to your favorite personnel. Call now, it begins April 23rd! Read More about Keeping Indoor Green Plants Happy »
